SICO THE ROBOT - He may be the most popular robot in history. He was born in 2045 and transported himself back in time for TechFest. He's done that sort of thing before, having appeared in the movie Rocky IV, having co-starred in Days of Our Lives (in a masterful acting stretch, he played a robot), and then there was the time he joined James Brown for a concert tour (yes, it's true). Sico has his own American Express Card and he is a member of the Screen Actors Guild(also true). He is very much looking forward to TechFest, because - in his own words: "I happen to know that at this very time, Long Island is home to many future scientists of import and repute and I have much to discuss with them. Also, I find Long Island women to be very pleasing to the eye "

KAL'S KONTRAPTIONS
Kal comes from a land far away, and he is an eclectic fellow, known for inventing very cool and whimsical contraptions that titillate and amaze. For example, his MONKEY ON YOUR BACK device is a back pack with gloves, with flex sensors and skin conductivity and EKG sensors that turn 4 arms on and off and activates a tail. His SODA DELIVERY MACHINE allows volunteers to operate a machine tele-robotically, and if they do it right, the machine will hand them a soda. His DRAWING MACHINE is triggered by your heartbeat - place your hands on sensors, and the machine makes drawings according to your heartbeat. All of Kal's exhibits are free with admission to TechFest and you can take your drawings home for free as well.

This is Kal
... he scares us, too. But his Kontraptions
sure are amazing.

DINOSAURS ROCK
TechFest brings you ... a museum. This one looks away from the future and back into the past. It is an educational, entertaining and totally hands-on adventure which includes life-size and genuine fossil & mineral specimens, real dinosaur eggs, real meteorites, and - our favorite - real dinosaur poop.  Expert instructors will be on hand to guide kids (of all ages) through the exhibit. This is a  rare opportunity to see and touch  -- up-close -- genuine and life-size, museum-quality specimens that are 65 - 300+ million years old (and not behind museum glass!).

Imagine . dozens of fascinating specimens -- a life-size, 3-dimensional T-Rex skull and foot, real dinosaur eggs, footprints & teeth, trilobites, meteorites, ammonites, 5 ½ foot apatosaurus femur, 9ft Ice Age Mastadon leg, genuine sparkling minerals, giant glittering geodes, Coelophysis skeleton, Edmontosaurus skull, life-size Triceratops skull and - ahem - coprolite (that's the proper name for fossilized poop).

The exhibit is free with entry to TechFest. For a nominal additional charge, kids can partake in a genuine Fossil Dig, a Gemstone Mining adventure with a 20-ft rushing water sluice and crystal-filled volcanic Geode Opening.  Kids (plus kids at heart) will discover and take-home real Dinosaur Bone, Fossil Shark Teeth, Petrified Wood, Amethyst, Citrine.even Real Rough Rubies, Emeralds and much more.

Accompanying this prehistoric experience will be a Dinosaurs Rock fossil & mineral boutique, with unique gifts and collectibles for the enthusiast to serious collector, plus a host of educational items and related toys for the young paleontologist and/or mineralogist. This exhibit is courtesy of DINOSAURS ROCK®, which conducts educational programs at schools, camps, parties and special events.

THEREMIN
Leon Theremin lived the conflicted life of a Soviet scientist. Nevertheless, he is the undisputed father of electronic music via the fascinating instrument that bears his name.  Interaction is through the air, as the Theremin is played by interrupting the energy fields around it with your hands.  It is ... the original air guitar.  The Theremin took the Beach Boys' Good Vibrations to mega-hit status, and it was used on Saturday Night Live in 2001 to mimic a violin.  You have to try a Theremin to believe it, and you can try it at TechFest, and after TechFest - you can try it again at the always-fascinating Long Island Museum of Science and Technology.
